LAURIE & CHARLES
When Laurie met Charles. In 1996, Charles and I met. He had just moved back from NYC and I happened to be looking for a new city to call home. I still remember the moment he walked into the photo studio. My big white dog greeted him enthusiastically. And I seemed to recall his face from the past. Upon first seeing his work, I found it beautiful. His vision amazed me. My intentions were to call him to find out more about where he had worked. It all happened pretty fast. Some may call it light speed. Within three weeks of our first date, he asked me to marry him. I have always said, "When you know, you know." Our happenstance meeting put those words in a whole new light. You can only imagine the phone-calls to my out of town friends, "I met this guy ... oh and we are also starting a studio together ... and by way, we are getting married."
When Charles met Laurie. I met Laurie in the spring of 1996 at a photography studio in Omaha. I met Scout, her great white dog, and then she came around the corner. As it turns out, we went to the same high school, but Laurie is much younger. So we had to piece together our connections from the past and present. I had no intention of calling her. I thought, "definitely out of my league." Fortunately she called me to ask about working in other cities. We met to discuss our photography experiences. I was really quiet because her work was great and her passion for it was even greater. The next day I asked if she would like to go to dinner and continue our discussion. Three weeks later on April 19th we were engaged. We married on May 10th, 1997.
